The Living Faith staff works hard to offer support for the full ministry of LFUMC. Should you have questions about any of the ministry opportunities at LFUMC, please contact the church office or any of the LFUMC staff persons by email.
Church Office Hours:
Rev. Dr. Bob (Song Bok) Jon
I was born to a pastor’s family in South Korea. After I heard the voice of God calling me to ministry, I decided to come to the U.S. where I would meet God and God’s people in a radically different setting. Indeed, God had a wonderful plan for me to grow in many ways.
I studied at Boston University for my Master of Divinity program. I was nurtured at Union UMC in Boston which is the first African American congregation to become a reconciling congregation in the U.S. I sensed that God broke me, challenged me, and transformed me as I grew theologically, intellectually, and spiritually. I was ordained as an elder in 2016. I completed my Ph.D. in Practical Theology and Homiletics at Boston University School of Theology in 2018.
I have been appointed to Living Faith UMC since July 2016. My wife, Sungha, and I are blessed to have our two beautiful boys, Daniel and Joshua. I am deeply amazed by my congregation in Putnam. People are passionate to worship and serve others in the community. People are not satisfied with where they are but seek to increase more ministries of outreach and mission as God calls us all out to the world.
I sincerely desire to welcome you to our church regardless of who you are and where you come from. As a foreign student and immigrant, I once felt lost feeling isolated and alone. But I witnessed the power in the community of faith that accepts us as we are and share the love of God as a new family in Christ. I wish to be your friend and your family.
My door is always open. My heart is always open. Come and stop by. Shalom. Click for Pastor Bob’s blog

I was born in Belarus, in the former Soviet Union, and moved to Kazakhstan when I was six. I got my Bachelor’s degree in music as a choir director and conductor in the Ruddny Music College, Kazakhstan, and my Master’s degree in Music as a choir director and conductor in the Belarus State Conservatory in Minsk. I worked as a choir director in the Music College in Ruddny, becoming its dean and then president. While President, I continued to work with the choir of the College, a children’s choir in the music school, and an adult choir. In 2010 I moved to the U.S.A., and continued my career, working at the Southbridge Congregational Church as an organist, and the Joy of Music Program in Worcester as a piano teacher. Since 2013 I have worked at the Living Faith United Methodist Church. Beyond my musical career, I love gardening, sewing, and travel. I love life.

I grew up in the small southern town of Starke, Florida. After high school, while attending Florida State University, I met my future husband and the love of my life, Jim, who hailed from Putnam, CT! I received an MRS. Certificate our senior year at FSU, then a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education and headed north soon after graduation! That was almost 45 years ago. After 2 years of substitute teaching, I was hired to teach art in the Putnam Middle School. Three years later we had our first child, Lindsay and our second (Kelley) came along nearly three years after that.
I became a United Methodist soon after arriving in Putnam. It was a bit different from my Southern Baptist roots but not so much. In January of 1986 when our youngest daughter started Kindergarten, I found myself in the church office asking Judy Gehrig if her position as secretary had been filled. It had not, and I started that very day to learn the ins and outs from this special person. I’ve never looked back.
I enjoy gardening, sewing, reading and cooking…a real domestic diva! Jim and I both love to travel and have done quite a bit of it over the years. Our grandchildren have been a very important part of our lives since our Clayton was born in 2006. Rowan, Claire and Georgia complete the grand picture! Their dads, Adam and Ryan, have added a new dimension to our lives and we love them like our own two girls.
I love Living Faith UMC and feel that they are all my family. “Blessed to be a blessing” is my mantra.
